FAQ
Frequently asked questions about the tournaments in Bordeaux
The Bordeaux Ocean Cup brings together youth football, handball and basketball tournaments in Bordeaux, at Easter and in summer 2027, organised by World Games Events. Below you will find the answers to the questions most often asked by clubs, coaches and families.
The tournaments: dates, sports and format
When do the Bordeaux Ocean Cup 2027 tournaments take place?
The Bordeaux Ocean Cup offers two dates in 2027. At Easter, from Friday 26 to Monday 29 March, three tournaments take place at the same time: football, handball and basketball. In summer, from Saturday 26 June to Saturday 3 July, a week-long football tournament. Both stays end with a free day to go to the ocean.
Why choose a tournament in Bordeaux?
A tournament in Bordeaux combines competition and discovery: a UNESCO World Heritage city, the Garonne quays and the water mirror, and above all the ocean and its big beaches nearby. Your players experience much more than a tournament: a real team trip, between matches, the beach and a campsite with water slides.
How many matches does each team play?
Each team plays 5 guaranteed matches in the Easter football tournament, and at least 4 matches in the summer football, handball and basketball tournaments. Every match is run by official referees, and matches are filmed so you can keep a memory of the tournament.
Which age groups can take part?
Easter football: U10 to U13 in 8-a-side, U14 to U17 and U15 girls in 11-a-side. Summer football: U12 in 8-a-side, U13 and U14 in 11-a-side. Handball: U15 girls and U15 boys (born in 2012, 2013 and 2014). Basketball: U15 (born in 2012-2013) and U18 (born in 2009-2010), girls and boys.
Is a particular level required to take part?
No, the tournaments are open to all levels. Group matches followed by ranking matches let each team face opponents of a similar level, and the guaranteed matches give everyone real playing time, whatever the results.
